|
|
Well its that time again folks for me to prove i actually care about the community just kidding. im here with a heads up on the latest gossip about the second life engine... so lets do this
The Glow Engine is phenomenal. it requires a higher end graphics card. and can pull your system down. but the effect is beautiful. glowing edges on items etc. ill post an unaltered screen shot of SL later for your amusements.
Havok 4 is being adopted early by many sim owners. now for those that dont know what havok 4 is its a physics engine that will allow secondlife simulators to operate at a smoother rate. while handling complex physical item properties at the same time (IE 20 cars racing around the same track). for an example of the havok system in effect look no further than the new Next Gen star wars game "The Force Unleashed" which uses havok for environmental items (such as crates) or the incredible Half Life 2
Voice Chat has become a staple of the second life community now. and Linden Labs has put some considerable effort into stabilizing the growing demand on the assets server. but as fast as they can work they are bogged down with the day to day tasks of Second Life's operation. support etc. so giving them some time might be a good idea.
anyways thats whats new in the world of Second Life. as always let your imaginations soar _________________

Can havok allow hands instead of ovenmitts on the end of arms? _________________ "It is. Deal with it." |

Havoc is a physics engine, not a graphics one.
I for one will be glad when it is grid wide, then maybe I can actually get my motorcycle into 6th gear and not wind up in orbit someplace.
As for the hands, well, it all depends on you.
Due to the prim nails/claws I wear I am restricted to a minimum size of 25. Without them I can go smaller. Installing the latest update to the Windlight viewer now, I'll let ya know. |

as iari said. the havok system is a physics engine not a graphics engine. but the good news is... secondlife avatars actually do have hands not oven mitts already. hehe though the lack of ability to animate these digits is rather disturbing... but i guess its for the better because i have about 20 "flipping the bird" animations already finished because i had nothing better to do than give myself the finger all night long _________________

Thats Aprile silly. Aida doesn't have the jungle voodoo skin and ears, nor the serious shackles |
