The Inquisitiorius! This information has been gathered by me over a period of two years and comes from many different sources. I decided to share it with everyone so that people could see what I'm drawing on when RPing Nyvveck.
The Duty of the Inquisitorius: The Inquisitorius was a fairly secret branch of Imperial Intelligence. When Imperial Intelligence could not break a subject, they would call in an Inquisitor, who would then use force techniques to break him. However, Imperial Intelligence was fairly good at its job, and so most Inquisitors spent their time traveling around the Outer Rim and other desolate areas searching for force activity.
Ranks within the Inquisitorius: Any new member of the Inquisitorius would be an Apprentice Inquisitor, and would be trained by a full Inquisitor or High Inquisitor. After a period of training, the apprentice would become a full Inquisitor himself. If he did a particularly good job at weeding out force sensitives, he could soon find himself with the rank of High Inquisitor. The only rank above High Inquisitor was Grand Inquisitor, appointed by the Emperor himself. At this point in the Star Wars timeline (shortly after the first GOOD movie), the Grand Inquisitor has recently been assassinated, and the Emperor has not appointed anyone to the place. However, High Inquisitor Tremayne would be considered the “head” of the Inquisitorius, as he was the most powerful, politically and in the force.
Threats to the Inquisitor: The life of any rank of Inquisitor was a very dangerous one. Not only did they hunt a very dangerous prey, but there were threats within their own organization. While there was not often open fighting (there was some), an Inquisitor always had to be on his guard, else one of his ‘comrades’ find some way to betray him and advance his own career. However, that was not all an Inquisitor had to worry about. Darth Vader himself would inspect Inquisitors at random, and if found wanting in loyalty, would kill them. Not only that, but an Inquisitor had to show that he was strong in the force, but not strong enough to pose a threat to the Emperor in any way. To be found too weak or too strong meant death.
The Homeworld of the Inquisitorius: The Inquisitorius was located on the Deep Core world of Prakith. Prakith was a very mountainous planet, considered a fortress world by the Empire. The Inquisitorius itself was located in a structure called Citadel Inquisitorius, a dark and foreboding structure located deep in the mountains. It was here that Inquisitors would meet and discuss findings, as well as receive any orders. As is to be expected on such a planet, the general population was very loyal to the Empire and Emperor.
Members of the Inquisitorius: As with any organization, the dedication and loyalty of the Inquistors varies. However, they can be roughly split into two groups. The first group is what I will call the “idealists”. These Inquisitors follow the ideals of the Emperor, and gladly serve him because they see it as the right thing to do. An example of an Inquisitor such as this is Adalric Cessius Brandl. The second, and perhaps more common group, is the “power-hungery” group. Members of this group don’t much care about the ideals of the Empire, and are happy with their position only because it gives them huge amounts of power. An example of an Inquisitor belonging to this group would Jerec.
Place in the Empire: Members of the Inquisitorius were the highest ranking force adepts within the Empire, outranking Royal Guardsmen, Emperor’s Hands, and Emperor’s Mages. Because of the nature of the force adepts, it would not be uncommon for an Inquisitor to also be a Mage, or a Hand. Their power was such that they could take command of almost any Imperial troops. However, most higher ranking Imperials considered the Inquisitors to be arrogant glory seekers, but nothing was ever said because the Inquisitorius was favored by the Emperor. _________________ Were I in your shoes, I would spend my last earthly hours enjoying the world. Of course, if you wish you can spend them fighting for a lost cause. But I think that you know, you've already lost. |
