Spiderman complains sometimes about his responsibility. Batman doesn't bitch, he just goes out and kicks some ass.

Peter Parker may complain a lot but Bruce Wayne has much bigger issues. Least Peter found a semblance of comfort marrying Mary Jane where Bruce has found no similar solace.

Ah, but bruce wayne still sleeps with some fine chicks in all the movies....what does spiderman do? get her to love him then go in the corner and cry. Then he says he can never be with anyone. He is such a *edited*.
There is dark/badass and there is Emo...batman is the badass if you have not noticed. lol

In the comics Peter Parker IS Spider-Man whereas Batman basically created Bruce Wayne as a facade to cover his activities. Batman is noi doubt badass but he has serious identity issues, and Spidey can whoop his fair share of ass too as him taking out Firelord when the Avengers & FF were both gone, him pulling himself down from the cross he was crucifed on during the Kulan Goth storyline, and him taking out the Sinister Six mostly solo when they tried to eliminate him and his allies.
In the movies Pete is more human then Bruce, plus there is the pesky issue of us having 4 different actors play Batman in the last 10 years.
3 words.....sculpted nipple breastplate......'nuff said!

Sculpted nippe breastplates don't make Batman emo, they just make him a fetishist.
Batman runs around, clad in black rubber, hanging around in deep dark caves with a teenage boy and girl he's dressed up in tights. Kind of weird, but hardly emo.

Well, their both emotional.
If I may bring a third party into the picture as well...
Superman is probably close to the only person in comic books to disguise himself as a person. His adopted parents gave him the name Clark Kent. But that was really his disguise. Who he was *was* Superman.
Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker both had to come up with their 'super' identities. Bruce's is born out of his own fear. Peter's is a bit more literal of where he got his powers from.
On an emotional level I think both characters are actually on the same level at their heighth.
Batman is harder than Spider-man because he goes through a lot of his pain early in Life. Spider-man in retrospect is a teen who mishappenly gets his gift and has two things going on... as Peter Parker he's growing up from teen to man; plus he has to deal with the added responsibility of sorting out this hero persona.
I think the characters merge to both be somewhat dark characters by the time we see them in their golden ages. Maybe Spider-man is just a little more emo because he's able to still keep a sense of humor and wise-crack whereas the people Batman deals with for the most part leaves him with a 'kill or be killed' attitude if the situation demands it.
