Want a classless MMO like pre-CU?

I just started playing Fallen Earth, and I must say that I'm highly impressed.

The leveling system is very much akin to the old days of SWG when you could create your own class to suit your play style.  You level up and get AP to spend on either your stats or your skills (stats determine your max skill levels).

The combat system is much like any other third person shooter--sort of like the NGE, but better I think.  There's no auto-aim, so MOBs are able to dodge your fire.

The world is pretty big, from what I can tell.  Not quite as big as SWG, but it's still a young game, and sectors will be added.

There's an RP community, although I'm not sure how large it is at the moment.

Also, it's all on one server, so there's no hassle of having your friends sign up on different servers and having to decide who to go with.

If you do sign up, give me a shout.  The name's "Griven Terras" (surprise!).

I was in the closed beta for around a year, and I must admit that it is a rather different game. It's interesting, but it's not without its flaws.
It's a decent game, but it needs some more polishing. There's just something about it that feels... off. Something's missing from it... I just can't put my finger on what.

It has a lot of potential, and I hope the Devs can see its potential and run with it. But as it stands right now it's just not my type of game. One of my biggest complaints is that it just seemed to lack any depth or immersion... I really didn't feel like I was part of the world. I didn't feel immersed in the world at all.

Though it could be worse... It could be CrimeCraft. Man, that game is just bad...

(I wrote up a little review a little while ago here, if anyone is interested.)

By the way, did they ever fix the frame rate problems? I know throughout the beta there was horrible lag and frame rate issues through the server that lasted even until the end of beta.

And yeah... My character's name was Grimmjaw... Rode around on a Portland Runner (a horse that you could only get  during the meet-up in Portland, Oregon). smile

I personally don't have a problem with immersion.  Since I started reading the stories that the Devs wrote for the quests, it's begun to draw me in.

I don't think the frame rate issues were fixed.  My Geforce 8800 GTS with 320MB of VRAM had a helluva time going through town.  It worked great out in the open.  So, I went out and bought a GTX 275 with 870 MB of VRAM, and it's giving me MUUUCH better framerates.  It does, however, drop down to about 15-20 FPS in town on full graphics.
