Star Trek Online : TrekCore Interview with Daron Stinnett

This is a link that is more or less now fodder for the scrapped game but I thought some of ya might like to see where it was headed a little more:

Poor STO fans, this just shows how good it might have been.....

No kidding.  I think many a phaser and batleths went limp when this one crashed.
Cryil

It may be dead now, but someone will revive it im sure

That game was going to be everything I had ever wanted in an MMO. Let's hope round 2 (if and when) follows some of the original ideas.

Oh, I agree.

The rumor mill has already begun on who may be going to pick it up.  But we're left waiting for any official press releases.

I'm honestly doubting they'll use any of the work Perpetual had on it though. I'm just betting it goes back to square one with any existing code being a no fly zone.

I agree, usually people would charge a pretty penny for any coding they were to hand over, that and I am sure another company might have a different look for the game.

Let's just hope it does get back into development soon and the next group does at least half as good of a job as Perpetual was doing with it.

Depending on what happens with other Sci-fi mmorpgs in development this had been looking like the next big thing for Sci-fi community mmorpgs.

All the fantasy stuff aside I think eyes will be turning toward things like the Warhammer 40k mmorpg, TB a little more, and SGW now.  Unless Blizzard surprises us with a StarCraft one or STO gets picked up again soon.  Rumor mill is still buzzing about the secret in Austin as well.  It could be Sci-fi; then again it might not.

But no doubt this was a blow to genre enthusiasts.  Just have to have faith that the ship will come home one day.  And with a little luck her name will be Enterprise.   cool

I say no sooner that 6 years before you see a ST MMO.... that would be my guess.
