Seeing how the discussion has gone, this may be the easiest way to settle this matter. Personally, I don't see how stealth can be justified and forcerun can't. It is different. Stealth may be easier to counter, I don't know. So, its up for a vote. Either we allow special abilities, or we don't. If we allow them, anyone who isn't a spy or a jedi may be at a big disadvantage. (At least until the TGE, when all professions will be getting special tag abilities.) So vote, yes or no, and feel free to leave more feedback. Also, remember, these rules are only for officially sanctioned games of tag. If you and your buddies want to get a pick up game going, you can always agree beforehand to allow special abilities.

Should special abilities be allowed? I have something else to throw into the mix...

Oniss, Iago and Xyryn played tag the other nite. I wasn't particularly surprised when she ran Iago down. On the other hand, I was surprised when she ran down Oniss. (For those who don't know, Oniss is a tall Dosh - with access to some special abilities.)

Now, after some experimentation early in the NGE, we discovered that a Dosh could jump farther than a medium-sized Twi'lek. So, I was not surprised that Xyryn could outrun many other players as she is taller than more than 50% of the people I normally play with.

I have to assume that her ability to outrun many others has to do with the clothing she wears...most of which was chosen to enhance her accuracy with ranged weapons. If we ban special abilities, should we ban enhanced clothing?

I think that the jetpack should definitely be banned...because the user will be bored.

Maybe we can get a pick up game going tonite after Enclave. That way we can test out the rules and see what happens? Scientific method and all?

Every character runs at the same exact speed, no matter the height (this isn't considering clothing mods or specials).

Terrain Negotiation still works, and is available to everyone. If you eat some Accarragm, you get a boost to it, too. Personally, if it's available to all, I see no reason why it would be banned.

Specials, on the other hand, aren't...and jetpacks aren't easy to acuire...unless someone gives you one.

Oh, and Oniss didn't use Forcerun until he was headed for the shuttle. He asked me about that, when we started playing, and didn't use it at all. I'm sure any clothing mods you have, Xyryn, are what gave you the advantage over his mod-less Jedi robe

Not being a jetpack owner, I may be mistaken, so correct me if I'm wrong, as is so often the case. Jetpacks basically work the same was as vehicles do they not? Don't you have to call them like a vehicle? You can't engage combat from them can you? Enemies can target them the same way a vehicle is targeted, yes? Unless I am mistaken on these things, then I would say jetpacks fall under the vehicle category, and would therefore not be allowed. Of course, if people wanted to make their own houserules where jetpacks and vehicles were allowed, thats great too.

I agree that jetpacks are vehicles. Unless we do a vehicle tag, they should be out.

I know Oniss didn't use forcerun. Didn't mean to imply that he did, just that he could have. Oniss has a good sense of what's fair.

So, let's consider clothing and food mods. Should they be out? Or in?

Or should we have two kinds of tag, with and without?

One of the kinda cool things about /tag is that only the two who are involved in the actual tagging know who is "it".

Yes, jetpacks are vehicles. I just like specifically messin' with Mayth. That and they have powers that other vehicles don't.

I'm still all for clothing mods and foods. Burstrun buff items are hazy.

I don't see any real problems with mods from clothing or food. These things are pretty much available to everyone, so I don't see it as a problem. The burst run stim is pretty expensive I guess, but hey, if someone wants to spend a million creds or however much they cost just to win at tag, I say, thats great. So, I vote to allow them if their are no other arguments against.

not allowing jetpacks isn't so much about their cost, more about the fact that we aren't allowing any vehicles/mounts
