The common frame of reference for if your computer can handle it is can it handle Oblivion. You don't need a speed demon just something that has a decent processor.

Of course the slower the machine the less eye candy, but from what I have seen and heard, you will be able to adjust accordingly.

I'm running off a 5 year old machine anyway.
I WANT all the eye candy!
It looks really good though. Reminds me of Ultima Online just a bit... Only better, much better.

Just don't get Vista.

Well the only bonus of Vista is the newer Direct X, I dont think XP supports 10 does it? ANyways, Direct X 10 is supposed to be super duper...but vista itself sucks cows.

That'd be the major drawback of XP atm. I don't like that; but I'll live with Direct X 9 over what I'll still consider a PoS OS. Others like it, I understand, but they really did manage to bungle up a lot of that needlessly where the XP set-ups were working just fine.
That said if they do let this run on XP, like a few other mmorpgs are trying to do, I'll likely try out a Trial of it at the very least after the Beta/Launch craze has passed.
Luckily there does look to be enough happening with Conan to be able to say it isn't just another 'System clone' with 'incert franchise skin here' in it.
One thing I've been wondering, but haven't really looked into, is have the approached Arnold for any in game voicing or looked at his two Conan movies for development ideas or quest story arcs?

No, this is souly based on the works of REH, which is a good thing, although I wouldn't say the first Conan movie was bad, if you have never experienced the original works of Howard, then you have missed out a great deal on the true Conan world.
Even Magic will be "more realistic" to follow the writings of Howard. Basically, no over the top partical effects or wild crazy things going on.
I will make a prediction right now. This game will be the best on a lore and RPG standpoint since Galaxies first came out. I really think this will give the same feel that you had in your first days of SWG.

Well character customization alone made me fall in love with the game. I can make a character that does not have four pre made faces to choose from like wow and six types of facial hair to cover it. If I want I can have a black eye and a broken nose or scars all over the place. Knowing my character is a one of a kind will make rp a lot smoother. Just like the feel SWG gave me way back when.

I'll have to fess up that I haven't actually read any of Howard's pieces on Conan. But I did find many of the interviews where he talked about how Conan spoke to him to be very entertaining. Often if taken at face value it makes him sound crazy; I'll let the reader do the research on the ones I'm talking about.
However, and I do agree and think the setting stands a little apart from other fantasy is how gritty this world is that Howard created. If they stick to that I don't guess it'll fall prey to the typical dragons and fairies play of other mmorpg settings.
If this turns out as well as I think it will despite not being a real 'fan' of the setting I would venture this company might do well with a Dune mmorpg somewhere down the road. Just to throw a hypothetical out there today.

I would kill for a Dune MMO.

At this point; likewise.
Guess the question would remain if they'd even want to tackle Dune after Conan though. I can almost hear the epic 80's soundtrack as we ride "big ones" across the dunes...
It'd just be that much sweeter if it had an attention to detail team like I'm seeing here with the Conan Devs.

Yup and prostitutes around every corner and bar fights everywhere. There is very little that you will not be able to find in this game.

Actually, I've had Vista for about 2 weeks now and I've had very little problems. Just have to read up a little to make options appear and have to set things correctly to get permissions. I actually just finished the machine I was talking about getting months ago. Paid 850 bucks so far for new case, 4 gigs of memory, core2 duo processor, 320 gig sata hard drive and I got vista for only 130 bucks. All that I need now is to upgrade my video card. Even spending $400 on it will still put me under budget. Thougth I was gonna be spending 1400 on this thing and with a kickass video card it is only gonna be about 1200 or so.
