Shoro has pre-ordered. He likes the tactics-based combat. And, he likes the shopping.

Yeah, it's an okay game. I'm not going to buy it.

My biggest issue with it is the swashbuckling. If they could make that reasonably enjoyable I could see myself playing this game.

Rhys says it is helpful to have an interest in the Age of Sail. He also emphasizes that the combat is tactics oriented, not fast-twitch. You have to think in this game.

Well if you can find tactics in the swashbuckling let me know. I see it as beat your opponents faster than they can beat on you. Well, in boarding combat there are some tactics but the general combat is your basic pull, beat on the enemy, rinse and repeat.
I agree there are a lot of tactics that are involved in the ship to ship combat. You have to keep your weak side away from the enemy, stay out of their firing arc, and consider the wind. That is the simplification of it. I mean you also have to consider shot types and repairs while in combat. As well as specials that you use in different situations. The ship to ship is a lot more polished than the swashbuckling.

I have Cid Meyers Pirates! I am happy with that. I am saving my money for Conan.

Dont get me wrong, they did a great job with the ship combat, but like said already, the swashbuckling reminds me of old Nintendo combat. If they could put in a good MMO combat system for that, the game would be incredible, but for now, its just good.
