Friday Update - Server and Beta News Server Segregation strikes again

Of course they offer a workaround:

Well that dose suck. Pretty much "We are giving the Europeans and north Americans no choice. You want to play with your friends from the UK to F**king bad." I sure hope they at least have rp servers.

Aye, I am not liking the split. At the very least SOE has shown that it is possible with SWG to support multi-country servers so we can play together worldwide.
Lameness.

They are claiming latency and the combat system, but to be honest, it just seems to be the common path for MMOs of late.

I think it should be up to the player to decide if it is to laggy. Saying that they will decide for them is just not the smartest idea ever. They will loose a small portion of profits because of this. It will not even scratch the paint but I am sure they will at least notice it.

Possible, but lag doesn't just effect the person who has a poor ping, it also hurts the people playing with them. But who knows, beta should be telling...

Well I have played with people all over the world for several years, even before SWG and I never had bad lag or knew of anyone who had bad lag when someone from europe got on. I am not saying it dose not exist I am just saying I have never had an issue with it.

The early days, Team Fortress and stuff like that, you could tell when someone with a bad ping got on a server. Of course nowadays most servers can handle 48 players no matter what ping.
MMOs are alot more people tho.....

Wow...some of you guys really know how to turn a tremor into an earthquake...*cough* Jami'kins *cough*
seriously this means pretty much nothing....Oh dear, the Europeans will have to order from Amazon.com rather from Amazon.com/uk or something. (Dont know if its terribly that simple, but I know its not nearly as complicated as people are making it sound) That means at most it will take them an extra few days to start playing, maybe...
Dew also has a point, lot of the time, when its laggy for one person, its laggy for others. We dont know how this game is going to handle large volumes, so we can say "Well we all know there will be no lag, its a new game" Just look at vanguard, which (and I just checked the other day) is still a bit laggy. The beta will at least be a good way to test, before that, dont worry about it.

It's not that simple, but it's not as complicated either.
However, that's not the problem. Think about it, Fed. Why should all the Europeans have to buy the North American version? Why don't you buy the European version? I know I wouldn't buy the European version, because Zo and T would not buy the European version. So, you could buy the European version, but then you won't be playing with me, Zo, or T (and good riddance to you!). On the flip side, say John Bull wants to play Age of Conan. He has a lot of people he plays with stateside. However, he also has a lot of friends in England who he wants to play with.
I'm not concerned myself, because, while I know several Europeans, I don't think any of them are going to Age of Conan. The people I want to play with live up north in Canada or out on the East Coast.

True, and I didnt think about the posibility of people who would want to play on two servers (be it American and European).

It dose not affect me in a huge way due to most of my online buddies are from the USA or Canada so its not a huge problem for me I just am not happy it dose not allow Europeans to play with us unless they have our version or vice versa.
