Kiva Xyryn enters the Temple. She nods to the guardian, mumbling a greeting, and steps before the altar. She bows to the book representing the Bright Face of the Goddess, then bows to the book of the Dark Face. She kneels before the tripartite symbol of the Goddess in the center. She gathers in her awareness, knowing that it leaves her defenseless, but she trusts the Kika’Vati guardians. She focuses her being on the symbol and begins her sub-vocal communication to her Goddess.
---------------
Goddess (blessed, hidden, mother, destroyer) The little distraction of the maybe-assassin, Chi’anna, might be coming to a satisfactory conclusion. (Of course, that may have been the intention…a distraction.) Hopefully, I will get some information on that soon as she appears to be in need of someone to hear her story (a small enough thing to do for another sentient). Afterward, I will know what my next step will be.
This brings me back to my main problem: Lack of information. If the Shadows exist here, Goddess, I can’t find them. I may have to invent them. They would be too good a tool to let them happen by chance. (The Goddess wants balance, and balance She shall have. To be balanced, a temple must have all three….the Kivate for the heart, the Kika’Vati for the arms, the Shadows for the mind.)
In the meantime, I must have information. My dancer network isn’t enough. Whar Sloth is a potential. So too, surprisingly, is the mini-Bothan, Oroho. She knows how to use that spy network. I could too, I know. However, my information gathering must be as undetectable as possible. (My interference in events must continue to look like a youngling “trying” to do good deeds…for another few years, at least.)
A small smile flits across Xyryn’s face. Its passage leaves no lingering trace.
That inquisitor, Nyvveck, is smart. Maybe he is smarter than I am, Goddess. (Best not to underestimate him. Zealots are dangerous, and smart Zealots, doubly so.) What is it about the Emperor that inspires such devotion as Nyvveck‘s … certainly not the emperor’s actions for they are typical of a sentient greedy for power.
Speaking of the Emperor’s actions, this order that he has put out for destroying all force users … (my dancer network came through on that one)… that makes force users precious to the Temples. If only those fools back on Ryloth appreciated the import of this! It is so obvious that the Gifted, whether they be force users or not, will be targeted if the real force users are eliminated. This must not be allowed to happen. (I worry about Shoro!)
You have yet to reveal all in the matter of N’epthys, Goddess. (I AM practicing patience, not interfering.) It has fallen to Kiva Is’is to handle that, as is proper, for N’epthys was Is’is’ Kika’Vati. If that late night visitor was correct then it is interesting that greed is also a motivator in this issue. (There are still the more esoteric aspects.) That Daygrah is someone to be wary of, but the little doctor is easily manipulated. He is drawn to the darker emotions, as a perlek is to carrion, although he cannot distinguish one from another. I wonder if others like him have the same failing?
You have put me here, Goddess. I have to suppose it is to learn patience. But that is much harder than learning your other lessons…so far.
Xyryn allows her awareness to expand outward, feeling the cool of the Temple, hearing the fountain splash and the guardians shifting in response to boredom, seeing the light wash over the altar and its various accouterments and smelling the sulfuric background of Lok. She stands. She bows again to the two books and moves away from the altar. She smiles at the guardian, gives him a blessing.
She pauses at the door of the Temple, checking the street for movement, the daytime shadows for emptiness, before walking out onto the porch. She savors the peace and heat of the afternoon as she returns to Sanctuary. It is almost time for one of her dancers to visit. _________________ "It is. Deal with it." |
