The sound of a scream. Part I
The sound of a scream, it pierces the hearts of those that hear it's wail. for some it is the death rattle of a love lost in battle.. for others. its harmonious retribution. as blade or blaster cut through flesh muscle sinew and bone...
but for Sharn Musashi. Jedi Knight... it would be something terrifying....
a quiet and happy old man outside of mos eisley. this old man remembered the old days. when the Jedi Knights where vast. and glorious defenders of the republic.. it was completely by fortune that on this day.. a new face.. a hidden face would walk into his store..
"Jeremiah's droid works" the sign on the outside read "best prices for custom work. one hundred and fifty percent discretion. guaranteed"
the door chimed as a young woman wrapped in a tattered and dirty brown cloak stepped into old Jeremiah's shop. her face partially obscured by the shadows that it cast over her eyes. her full lips painted with a red tinge that made her beauty stand out. even wrapped in the garments.
"it is my understanding that you are a man of great trust... and of great conviction" she spoke up. her voice was like that of a cantina band singer. soft... sweet.. and calm Jeremiah thought to himself.
"yes I am young lady. how can an old man help you today" the old tinkerer asked his old gray/blue eyes shined softly with truth.
"I am in need of a droid.. a very special one. my previous travelling companion. R2-J1 was recently damaged beyond repair.. by a person carrying an illegal weapon.. Artoo tried to warn me of a pending attack and the individual destroyed his logic center... "
"yeah.." the old man returned to her mysteriously shadowed face after looking over her concealed form. "people tend to shoot out a droid's logic center or motivators first... renders them completely unable to offer assistance... pitty about your droid.. an R2-J model you say?. those havent been in service going on... twenty some years. where did you find a functioning Jedi droid?" his curiosity was deffinately aroused
"He was a gift. from a friend a year or so ago.. not important where i got him from.. but i do need him replaced... as soon as possible"
Without making any sudden moves the young woman pulled a holo-unit from beneath her cloak... maybe it was already in her hand. she lit it up and gave the old droid expert a technical readout of what she needed this new droid to do.
"So. you want him to have a built in pneumatic launcher?" he asked quietly "what for? hiding a spraystick or knucker?"
"yes a vibroknucker. a very special one to me. i want him to be able to spring it to me if im attacked again.. can you do it or not?" she asked her calm voice feeling like an oasis bath flowing through the room.. though frank as it was. she had a calming affect on his old bones... one he'd not felt since he was working as a maintenance man on coruscant...
"well it shouldnt be any trouble.." Jeremiah responded. "will there be anything else he'll need to do?"
"yes. i need his computer interface to be designed specificly for old republic technology... particularily the old ETA-2 fighters.. the readout for the interface should be in the schematics i gave you" and surely as she had claimed it was there.
"alright.. anything else? " he asked once more to make sure
"yes.. one last thing... i want him to have a vast memory storage cluster.. one that is impossible to wipe.. or slice.. for recording our adventures together"
"No problem. so... a droid like this may take a few days.. do you want me to commlink you when he's done?" the old man proceeded with his business mentality
"No. ill come back in two days" she replied hesitating
"whats wrong?" jeremiah asked of concern.
"I just dont want to go back to mos eisley... at least not without the droid.. ill pitch a survival tent outside to stay in. thank you for your time"
"now wait just a minute. a droid like this needs his keeper's touch in his crafting... and i certainly could use some company.. how about you and I have some dinner. and tomorrow Morning we can start work on this new R-J series droid together.. it would make an old man happy to have someone to listen to him"
her lips parted with a smile... she was moved and happy to receive the invitation... he could tell that the young woman wasnt often in the company of others that actually wanted her around.
so she spent the night

Part II
the meal was satisfying to the young Jedi in hiding. it had been a while since she had real food to eat. not the synth rations she carried with her all over the galaxy.
"so." jeremiah started the after dinner conversation "didnt catch your name miss..."
"Musashi.. Sharn Musashi.. im a travelling doctor on my way to help the Massassi people on yavin 4.. i landed here for fuel and supplies when R-J was hit.. bar room brawl that spilled into the starport i fear.."
"well you could probably guess it.. but im Jeremiah... been so long since i heard my last name... i dont think i'd recognize it if someone called me by it"
He started laughing. slapping his hand against his leg with gufaws and snorts of humor. Sharn found it hard to resist the good natured show of emotion that the old man had already begun and she cupped her hand over her mouth and laughed with him.
"its a pleasure to meet you then Jeremiah". She'd finally calmed herself down to the point she was just occasionally giggling... she'd supressed her instincts and emotions too long now to lose complete control
the casual conversation lasted a few hours. until Sharn forced herself to yawn.
" Tired ey? alright. the guest room is upstair. my room is just through that door. and the refresher station is down the stairs from my room turn left at the bottom"
"thank you." she said quietly "for your hospitality and your stories"
and she climbed the stairs quietly never once removing her cloak .. dinner.. conversation... she kept the cloak pinned to herself like it was armor to protect herself with...
