So I'm thinking of returning to SWG as soon as this weekend... I'm not completely positive yet, but I'm thinking about it. I've never been able to resist Hoth (my favorite planet ever <3), and I've been inspired to play as a different character too. I've been thinking that, if I do return, I may transfer Degwin over to a more populated server and create a new character on that same server as well, and with the new character get more serious about role playing to keep things interesting (I've already created a story, and a game, for said character anyway, might as well use it). But I'm not completely sure yet. I'm still debating.
Anyhow... I was going to ask, have most everyone here transfered over to a different server? If so, which server? Is said server very populated? More or less so than Gorath? Are there enough people there that I might be able to get some help with quests and such on the new character, should I need it?
Also, does anyone know what your character loses upon server transfer? I know waypoints, friends and E-mail, which is no big deal, but anything other than that like badges, collections, quest information, veteran status and such?
So yeah, just thought I'd ask... _________________

A good portion flat out quit when it looked like the lights were going to be permanently turned out here. So, those you're not seeing probably will not be back to SWG if I had to guess, Deg.
For the most part I think many headed, or want to head, to Starsider. It has become the unofficial "official" rp and space junkie server from what I've read.
You'll still find some of the Kreetles during gig nights on Gorath though.
Others I think have spread over to their game's community sites. Ala World of Warcraft communities and the like.
Other than the fact that they really need to work on whatever is causing the lag for Hoth to the client; I'm fairly impressed with the instance. At this point I'm kind of itchy for some more news about the FCTs coming early into this next year before I completely jump back into SWG myself. I do get on top of the Free time when I find out about it though.
I think if you resub and you've been inactive for awhile, starting in December I think, you also get another one of SOE's famous come back goodies. Think it only applies to accounts that have been inactive though. Hologram basically.
Time will tell if LA sees profit in the idea of keeping two Star Wars IP mmos running though as we get closer to SW:TOR. I have my doubts still since it isn't completely sounding like what I wanted out of another SW mmo. But it could turn out being a good thing for SWG as well.
Other than that I pretty well continue to keep jonesing on mmo info about SW:TOR, STO, and playing some WoW at the moment.
If you do pop back into SWG though you might also hit up Cryil on Xfire. I think his info is still the same on our sticky here. Him and Mayth, that I've seen, seem to still be die hard players. _________________

Yeah, I've been talking with Cryil for a while now.
I've been playing a new character on Starsider, and it's kind of nice to start all over again. But I have to admit, not a lot has changed since I left before... and I'm not completely positive it's worth $15 a month, especially when I'm so short on money as it is.
Though I've still got a few days left of the 14-day free re-activation thingy so I have a little while left to decide.
I'm dying to go to Hoth, though... laggy or not, I gotta see my favorite Star Wars planet.
To be honest I wish there was another MMO that really caught my interest. If there was I'd play that over SWG in a heartbeat. But dang it, I just can't find anything that looks any good and that's coming out soon. The only ones that look any good are Aion, which the release is "sometime in 2009", SW:TOR, which wont be out for a good long while, and Earthrise which also doesn't have a release date yet.
I was thinking of going back to Tabula Rasa, but I guess I wont bother now seeing as it's shutting down the beginning of next year. Maybe I'll play it while it's free-to-play...
Bah, there really needs to be an awesome sci-fi MMO. I've been going crazy with no MMOs to play. >_<
As for the SWG/SW:TOR thing, SOE is trying to play it cool right now judging by some of their responses, but it's obvious they're starting to panic, and will be panicking even more when it gets closer to launch.
I have a feeling that once SW:TOR launches SWG isn't going to be around for much longer. I just don't think SWG will be able to compete with a brand new Star Wars MMO. Especially because I imagine that LucasArts is going to be dropping SWG even more than they already have and picking up (and supporting/advertising) SW:TOR when it comes out. But that's just my opinion. _________________

I love jabbering about matters of opinion to be sure. I don't think they're really running around in a sense of panic though. They only know what LA tells them.
In the past couple of years I'm blaming LA more than I am SOE. It sounds more like SOE always had it's hands tied with the IP. Bioware has it easy in that facet because they've apparently been given some "freedom" with the license. Guess it comes down to movie canon though. Classic era is apparently hard to do as an mmo and give all the players what they want out of it. I'm still of the opinion though that SWG will still be here a few years to come while we see what happens with SW:TOR development. Again, I'm going on the assumption that the game is turning out to not have some things SWG vets are looking for.
But we'll always have the melodramatic notions of Screw SOE and In Bioware We Trust no matter what. I'm trying hard not to give a crap either way anymore on that opinion. _________________

If anyone does pop up on StarSider you can certainly drop me an IG Mail or a /tell and I'd be glad to hook up, or help you get to know some people on Starsider.
The RP there has been great. I'm really enjoying my time back in SWG. Course it's also been completely drama free RP for several months and it's amazing how good that feels. _________________

I have a new character on Starsider but Degwin hasn't been transfered. And if things with the free transfers don't change I'm thinking I may just quit again. I'm not going to pay $50 just to transfer over to another server... that's a rip-off. _________________

Yeap, I'm finding their choice of x-fer to servers a bit... odd. I might pick up a game card in the next day or two to activate one of the accounts to snag a couple of freebies though. But if things remain as they are I'll be going on hiatus again shortly thereafter. _________________
