Jerah leaned back in his seat uncomfortably, his lower back aching from hours of being stationary. Ahead of him approximately... he leaned towards his tracking monitor ...6000 feet ahead of him, the YT2400 he'd been pursueing sat pristinely.
She'd placed it perfectly between the miningstation and the evergrowing line of mineral freighters to avoid most radar systems. Tricky tricky, even her ships signature came up as a nearby vessel from time to time on his systems. He'd found it best to keep her chassis within visual range.
His assignment had been a pretty simple one with the ship the Inquistors had supplied him with. It had been heavily modified for recon missions exactley like this one. But the seating was uncomfortable, he adjusted himself once again as his attention slipped back over to the pod race reviews on his vidcreen.
Suddenly his vidscreen cut out, an incoming transmisson, Jerah sat upright in his chair as the lighting systems around him automatically turned off, in the darkness he sat in his Royal Interceptor, this was standard procedure.
"Pilot Identify Yourself" the voice of an elderly male, or so Jerah would have guessed through the static of his commlink system, one of the administrators.
"ID # 200670 2nd Lt. Jerah on assignment." This was all standard protocol of course.
"Update your current status of assignment Lt."
"Yes sir." Jerah sat harmlessly in the darkness, thinking to himself for a moment how best to phrase everything. "I have tracked my target to several planets across the galaxy, my current location is the Kathaark system, though I do believe this will be a brief stop."
"What is the status of your target Lt?"
"The target is unharmed, it would seem whatever information you believe you have about her being damaged is somehow innaccurate."
"The information is not inaccurate Lt. Jerah and we will once again remind you to refrain from making any direct contact."
"I understand." Jerah had no choice but to agree. It was not his position to question the motives of his seniors.
"What about the other target of interest?" the voice crackled over the commlink after several moments of silence.
"She is on the hunt." Jerah said. It was all he could say, he had seen that woman only once. If Mandalorians did exist, he was sure that she was one of them.
"Stay with the ship. It is in your best interests that it does not escape."
"It will be done."
"All Hail the Emporer"
"All Hail the Emporer"
The lighting within his ship returned, and his vid screen flickered on. "Huh whaddya know, Quadrinaros won on the Eisley Circuit." He murmured to himself quietly. |
