|
|
I've got an RP case in the works that could lead to a real trial and someone being falsely accused of some crimes. It would be cool to have a trial and a defense lawyer could present the evidence that will get the defendent off. So would anyone be interested in doing a Judge, Jury, and a prosecution and defense attorney? Maybe a few witnesses or something to testify?
And Hrolf or one of the other decor people interested in decoratring for a trial? Might be a challenge?
Anyway, let me know. _________________

I'm in. The Kiva could be either a judge (English system with 3) or an advocate. Xen could be a witness, or jury member. Just can't do both, at the same time, so whichever you need most. _________________ "It is. Deal with it." |

I don't know if any courts under the empire would actually have a jury made up of civilians. If a jury at all. _________________

I think that would depend on if there were juries under the Republic, wouldn't it? Given the number of planets under the Empire, there would certainly be every version of justice systems imaginable. It would be just the Imperial courts that would be consistant.
And since we have already had one Imperial trial, if we were to have another, the precedence has been set. But, we are not talking an Imperial trial here, we are talking a local trial. I doubt that even Nym would be particularly interested in what kind of trial any of the local towns used. Heck, he probably wouldn't care if it was trial-by-lynching. _________________ "It is. I would say the old republic would have no court system at all. Seeing as everything was corrupt. I would say the empire would have a trial system, more of without a jury. But, I see no need for the empire to even care about this sort of thing. Only if one of their own was involved (good imperial citizens, not bad ones like all of you!) I dont think they would even know. _________________ Spelling errors are what separate us from the masheens.

Well, there comes a problem from that in that either Nyvveck (if I get online) or Iafeu (if she gets online) could possibly find out about said trial. And I know Nyvveck, and I can guess Iafeu, being people who actually care about the welfare of the citizens, would become interested in it. So then, of course, the Empire would know.
Which could lead to a nice, fun RP turf war.
And ultimately, I believe the trial would be however the government of Nocturnus wanted it to be, so long as that trial didn't break any Imperial laws. There would perhaps be Imperial oversight, maybe a form sent to General Otto for him to sign. Beyond that, unless the criminal in question is someone that the Empire wants to interrogate or somesuch, I can't see a reason for the Empire to become officially involved. _________________ Were I in your shoes, I would spend my last earthly hours enjoying the world. Thats what I said to Cylestya and a few others earlier about this exact same topic. Unless it involved imperial business, I doubt the empire would be involved. _________________

So we have multiple thoughts and multiple people that would be up for it.
Now if we proceed how do we want to conduct it? Jury, or just a judge?
If the Imperials are involved the trial will be known to the Empire, but as said do they care enough to worry with it or leave it to a local venue?
Iafeu has an inside track on this from our discussion so help me out. As witness if you are called to testify, then how does that affect us?
Hrolf let me stir up some lots and place a building to decor. What kind were you thinking of decorating in? PM if you want and let me know.
Think this might be a fun venture for us to undertake as a community. _________________

I'd say Jury

Iaefu should answer this, but i dont think the empire considers this person a threat so .... they shouldnt get involved.
