Moderating Guidelines

In an effort to maintain a pleasant and open atmosphere on the forum, moderating practices will be stiffened up a bit.

Generally we've tried to let things resolve on their own and trust to people's good sense, but at times good sense escapes us all. We want everyone to feel like they can be heard without fear of unwarranted ridicule.

I like to keep things simple so here goes:

DO:

- Create posts with info, questions, etc.
- Post your opinion on the subject matter being discussed
- Give people the benefit of the doubt or PM them if you are unsure of their intended message. This is written media on a forum which doesn't convey things like sarcasm, intent, tone, etc.
- Debate freely
- Give constructive criticism VIA PM. If you don't like the way so-and-so roleplays feel free to PM them your concerns and offer constructive suggestions for improvement. Doing so publicly will only put them on the defensive and begin a flame war.
- Respect requests to stop a conversation. For example, if someone asks you to stop PMing them, honor their request and let the subject drop.
- Respect other people's opinions even if you don't agree with them.

DON'T:

- Make posts about religion or politics unless it is addressing in game, in character events.
- Attack other individuals either directly or through innuendo for any reason publicly. If you want to give someone a piece of your mind do so through PM's. Your bitness is your bitness.

If you don't have something nice to say, don't post. Use the PM feature folks.

Any posts that are perceived to be falling into the "don't" category will be deleted. If we get to it too late and there are a lot of posts, the thread will be deleted.

Generally if the intent of the thread was good, we will remove the offending posts to allow constructive discussion about the topic.

In essence I'm asking the same thing I've asked from day one - police yourselves and let's all just act like adults. If you feel your blood pressure starting to rise, logout and walk away for awhile. It does wonders...trust me. sly wink
